No matter what it is or when it started it needs to die with Nazism.
Waving or saluting in any similar fashion should never be glorified. It was a very dark time in the 40s and it’s a very dark time today for the same exact reason.
And...what am I confused about? You think Nazism died in 1945? You also want to call everyone you don't agree with, or make a gesture like an ancient Roman a Nazi?
Go ahead, but who's "glorifying" what? And what's so "dark" about now?
There's a statistical term, "Correlation does not prove causation". That's good to remember in many cases.
So, Nazis adopted a salute that is quite similar to the salute of other people in other times. There's you correlation. Does that mean than Nazii salutes caused Nazi concentration camps or Jewish persecution. Of course not. If Nazis had adopted some other salute, would the result be that Nazis never created concentration camps or Jewish persecution? Of course not.
You could just as easily say that Nazis wore pants, so from now on, no one should wear pants. They wore hats, so from now on, no one should wear hats. And so on.
Go with the causation. How did Hitler and the Nazi party rise to power, and how can we work to prevent that ever happening again. THAT'S worth consideration. Stressing over salutes is simple-minded nonsense that accomplishes nothing.
The Bellamy Salute—what the ignorant want to attribute solely to the NSDAP but started thousands of years ago—was in use in the US until 1942.
And?! You seem confused.
