Just recently reread Lord of the Flies and was so glad I did. So much better this time around. I found myself thinking at times like both Ralph and Jack. I would like to think that I was more like Ralph but Jack was appealing.
I first read Lord of the Flies in high school as an assignment. So I was that actual age. Yet, I felt the story was so contrived and absurd, what was the point. Rereading it as an adult, I found it much more real.
And today, it is downright frightening to see the number of people who eagerly chant, "“Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood.” Not those exact words, but still the same thing.
