Today's Wall Street Journal has an op-ed, "Biden, Trump and the Meaning of Stupidity" that illustrates in a really ironic way how confirmation bias manifests itself in one individual.
Bertrand Russell is known for this quote, among many others: “The trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.”
How true.
The piece then goes on to point out some cocksure stupidity from none other than Bertrand Russell himself, who refused to listen to anyone who tried to show him that unilateral disarmament invites aggression.
We have a conundrum: If I'm sure you're right, that indicates that we're both stupid. So, I'll just say that previous experience indicates the possibility that there are elements of essential truths in some of what you have said.
