We Need More Hours
If we can print money when we need more money, why can't we print more hours? And if printing more hours is pointless, then what is the point of printing money?
We need more hours!
There are just not enough hours in the day to get everything done. We all know that, but no one does anything about it!
Studying for school has never been more convenient. No need to go to the library, no need to cruise shelves full of books and leaf through pages to find the info that you need to copy and pretend you wrote. Now, just go online, put in a few search terms, and your poli sci term paper pretty much writes itself!
And, no need to block out big chunks of your evening to see your favorite shows. Now, we have streaming! Go out, have a good time. And then come home (alone?!) and pick up where you left off on your favorite shows.
Eating no longer means cooking. You no longer even have to go out to get the food, which is a big waste of valuable time. Instead, a few judicious clicks on the phone, and the cooked meal comes to you!
Yes, a whole lot more time is available now, compared to only a few short years ago. Yet, there STILL is not enough time! Really, there is not enough time; so we need to create more hours. No problem. Hours were created by man, not God. Sure, God created time, but we created hours. We can have all the hours we want, so let’s make more. What we need is for the government to add six hours to the day, taking us from 24 to 30. Now, I know what you’re wondering. You’re wondering, does that mean there’s actually more daylight? More time? Well, of course not. The rotation of the earth determines that, and we have no control of it. But we DO control the number of hours in that day, so let’s add MORE!
Right about now, you might be thinking, that’s nuts; that’s pointless. Well, don’t be so quick to judge. I said the GOVERNEMNT should do this, and the government knows what it’s doing, right? Of course it does. It has EXPERTS! Those experts have already determined that you can make everyone richer by printing more money and giving it to them, right? Of course, without increased production, there is nothing extra available to buy, but at least you have more money, and only conservative geezers could be opposed to that! True, to actually HAVE more, more would have to be produced. More housing, more food, more energy, more healthcare. That means people working more, not less. Specifically, it means more people working in production, and not typing on keyboards like I’m doing right now.
But, just like it feels better to have a guitar amp that goes to eleven, and not just ten, it feels better to have more time and money, even when it’s all just in our heads. More hours, and more money. Easy enough, when it’s only about feelings and not reality.
Moral of the story: You can print money, but you can’t print prosperity.
