Are You an Elite?
OK, what IS an elite? Why are they in charge? Are they the smart ones? Are they watching out for you and me?
Surely, you’ve wondered how there could be such a divide as it exists today in the USA and in the entire world. Clearly, we don’t all see things the same way. But where is the divide? White/black? Rich/poor? Urban/rural?
How about this; government supported/government taxed. We are all taxed, of course, but some people experience a net positive, getting more money out of government than they put in. For others, for most of us, it’s the other way around. I was a teacher once, and I well remember how nice it was to see a tax increase, when I knew that those taxes would give me a healthy raise. Now, tax increases benefit me not at all. I’ve gone from government supported to government taxed, and it affects my perspective.
Here’s what I’ve concluded, talking with numerous people I know on both sides, and listening to talking heads on media: Those who derive income either directly from government or from working for organizations that are paid directly by government, are sure that we need more government, more taxes, and more government authority (power).
Those who do not, want less taxes and less government authority (power).
Those whose lives depend on government go so far as to believe that protecting their livelihood is equivalent to ‘protecting democracy.” Free speech is trounced. Opposition leaders are persecuted “to save democracy”.
Almost without exception, I’ve found that those whose livelihood depends on government are the people who fiercely buy into suppressing anyone who opposes them.
Democracy, my ass.
Elites don't have to ask if they are among the elite; they just know they are and act as if they are.
Don’t expect a person to take a stand if his job depends on not taking it
I see people who preach self reliance but make sure their income is low enough so they pay no income tax
But they take Obamacare and pay no premiums because they are “poor”
But Obamacare uses private insurance providers and the government has to pay the premiums for them for these “poor” self reliant people
So it’s a form of lying to themselves
Can you expect this person to be anti government?
No they want freebies but don’t want to pay income tax
